Session started out slow with very little to no wind, so I was just pottering around not really getting anywhere fast. Stopped for lunch along with the rest of the club, during this time the wind died completly and the resovoir turned glassy. The wind began to increase and there was a mad dash to our boats so that the second race could get underway (still no racing for me yet). I stayed out of the way until the race got underway, then I was off. The afternoon session was great with reasonably consistant winds. Winds even got strong enough for me to hook up the trapeeze and try to get out on the wire for the first time. Scared, I slowly but surely I edged nervously out towards the edge of the boat, then finally pulled the main sheet in tight and pushed myself right out onto the wire. Horay, I was out, briefly, but what a thrill, topping out the GPS at 18.4kn fastest so far. With a little more confidence you never know I might be able to get to my target speed of 25kn.
I can here all the windsurfers among us saying 'how slow' I know, but this is a two man dinghy that sits in the water not skimming over the surface.
